GP-16 #1607

LIRC uses 1607 mainly for yard work, but once in a while, they will use it for small loads or pair it with one of the other locomotives for full-sized loads. Up until about 01NOV1998, 1607 was in Family Lines paint scheme and was known as 1843. Before LIRC acquired 1843, it was CSX #1843 until retired February 19, 1993. CSX acquired 1843 in the merger of Chessie and Seaboard. Before the merger, it was SBD4797. Before that, it was SCL4797. In June 1982, SCL had the locomotive rebuilt. Before the rebuild, it was SCL834. Before being SCL834, it was ACL214. The locomotive was built in June 1951. It was Frame #5050-28 and Builder No. 13894.
